  Our expression lines are resulted from facial expressive muscle contraction stimulated by our neurotransmitter Acetylcholine (Ach). Botulinum toxin (BTx) is purified protein which can effectively reduce the excessive muscle contraction via competing with Acetlycholine for the receptive binding sites on muscle plates and hence reduce our expression lines. Furthermore, we can also delay the formation of static lines on face at later age through reducing excessive facial muscle contraction.

  The certified available botulinum toxins in HK are BOTOX from USA, Dysport from UK and Xeomin from Germany. However, those with neuromuscular diseases, pregnant or lactating mother are not advised for botulinum toxin injection. It is important to seek medical advice before deciding on the treatment. It will start effect about 3 - 7 days after injection, and the result can last about 4 - 6 months, variation subjected to individual patients.

  
  

  Botulinum toxin has been widely used clinically nowadays mainly at the following:

  Face: Reduce expression lines, namely frown lines, crows feet, forehead lines, bunny lines and etc.

  Calf sculpture: Reduce the muscle bulk of gastrocnemius, it can help reshaping the contour of calf muscle..

  Square face: This is resulted from the muscle bulk of masseter muscle (main chewing muscle of face), botulinum toxin can reduce the muscle bulk and hence reshape the facial contouring.

  Superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS) is a muscular layer about 4.5mm underneath the skin, it is important in holding the face in youthful state. However, this layer will get weakened with time and aging process leads to falling and sagging to mid face, resulting deepening nasolabial folds and marionette lines. High Intensity Focused Ultrasound can effectively deliver high ultrasound energy to SMAS layer to form discrete coagulative points which initiates dermal rejuvenation mechanism by laying down new collagen. Thermage CPT is a safe, FDA approved, non-invasive, mono-polar radiofrequency (RF) procedure that is clinically proven to help smooth and improve skin for an overall younger looking appearance. The treatment delivers electric current which penetrates down the skin and converts into heat energy to initiate dermal collagen remodeling and hence induction of new healthy collagen production, and at the same time, the heat energy can also tighten fine fibrous septum intersecting in dermal layer and result strengthen the anchoring effect. However, those are pregnant, had mental implants, wearing pacemaker or other implanted electronic devices are not suitable for Thermage treatment.

  Clinically proven effective treatment area:

  Peri-orbital area: Sagging upper and lower eyelid area, reduce peri-orbital fine lines, improve drooping eyelid and eyebrow.

  Time required for Thermage treatment varies according to treatment areas, numbing cream will be applied for an hour on treatment area. There will be heat feeling during treatment and the skin will be protected from the heat by cryo-cooling of the machine.
